PS.

Meet me at the Tokyo Gallery Center Inc. on April 17, 2004. I will wait for you until 12 midnight.

Until then, my love.

Satoshi.

Oh god. Oh god.

If it were even true or even if it’s not, Nino doesn’t give a damn. His mind tells him that this is just too good to be true, maybe a little too impossible to happen but then his consciousness tells him otherwise.

“What if the letter was just made by that jerk, Nino? I’m pretty sure you’d get hurt again. I can’t promise you that I won’t go back there to punch the guts out of that guys face, and I don’t care if he’s pretty because~”

“Aiba, will you please just shut up for a moment and let me think?! Please? Instead of babbling nonsense words there, why don’t you try and contact your boyfriend again, huh? God, I already have too much in my head right now and I don’t think and I can take much more of your whining..”

Aiba glared pointedly at him but otherwise fished his phone out and started dialing Sho’s number, giggling silently remembering how Nino addressed Sho as his boyfriend. Nino sighed deeply, throwing his gaze out of the window. “Hello Sho-chan? Are you in the office right now? Yes, yes. Well actually~”

Nino’s quick hands cut him off as the younger man snatched the phone out of his hand. “Hello? Yes, it’s Nino. Sorry for the trouble, Sakurai-san but I need your help. Yeah, about the painting I showed you last time. I just want to know if we can enter the gallery even if it’s late, well because..” he paused. Now he’s actually having second thoughts about telling the other man about the supposed meeting tonight, but he doesn’t think he has another choice. “.. c-could you please just wait for us? We’ll be there in about an hour and a half. I really, really need your help, Sakurai-san..”

Sho seemed to understand the urgency in his voice and so he agreed to wait for them. Nino thanked him wholeheartedly, then passes the phone to Aiba’s eager hands.

Tonight.. he thought silently. Be there Satoshi, or I will personally submit myself to a shrink because this is crazy. And if you are not just a figment of my imagination, well then, I’d be damned.

He kept a habit of reading Nino’s letter, every single one of them before he goes to bed. Every single one of Nino’s letter conveys different emotions.. he could easily tell what the younger man’s mood was by the time he wrote a letter because his words reflects on each and every emotions he felt. Nino wouldn’t say things directly and Ohno had to be observant enough to notice those simple little things.

Another thing is the fact behind the dates on Nino’s letters.

The first time he had noticed the date, he mentioned it exactly on the letter he made as an answer for that particular letter. At first, he thought that the younger man really knows how to play a joke on someone, especially someone like him. But after the third, and fourth letter and Nino still hadn’t changed it, Ohno knew there was something wrong.

But then he couldn’t find enough courage to ask Nino straight away. So he had resolved on asking things about Nino’s life, what he does, and what was it like during his time.

When Nino answered him, he knew he had been right.

July 20, 2002

Dear Satoshi,

You’re really weird, do you know that? I don’t know why would you want me to tell you the things I have in my room when I’m positive you probably have everything I will mention, and more. But then again, I wouldn’t want you to accuse me of being no fun if I don’t so I will tell you.

I have a television, a small one which given to me by my kind but crazy older sister along with the old desktop computer which I need to slap twenty times before it worked. And, well, a cd player.. a guitar.. wait, I’m still looking around alright? Hmm, a potted plant from my Mom.. a bed, of course.. a small study table.. my mobile phone, hmm, what else? And speaking of mobile phone, you still haven’t told me your number.. I told you once it’s better if we could just text or call each other right? Much more convenient that way..

Until now, he still couldn’t stop himself from shivering even after reading that letter over and over.

Ohno hadn’t even heard of the things Nino had mentioned in the letter and even after he asked around, nobody even recognizes it.

Plus the fact that Nino, as far as Ohno is concern, is the most honest man he had ever known.

And when the realization dawned on him, Ohno doesn’t know what to make of it.

That he is living in the present.

And Nino lives in the future.

Tokyo Gallery Center.

At 12 midnight.

And today is April 17, 2004.

God.

His hands felt cold. His knees kept on wobbling and he couldn’t keep his focus. There seemed to be a lot of things, images he keeps on seeing that he couldn’t understand eversince he read his grandfather’s letter. Then seeing Nino’s retreating back a few minutes ago while he drags his taller friend out of their door, after giving his nonstop apologies to his grandmother.

A part of him badly wants him to throw himself out that door and follow them but the other part tells him that it’s completely crazy. Because there is no way his grandfather would come and meet Nino.

He’s dead, for chrissake! For over fifty years already and there’s no way a dead man could come back to fulfill a promise he had made years ago, right? There’s just no sensible answer and Satoshi wouldn’t even think of ~

“I am guessing you are trying to stop yourself from doing something you think you wanted to do but wouldn’t want to because you think it’s impossible, right?” his grandmother’s voice stopped him from further complicating things around his head and for the first time that day, Satoshi felt relieved as the images stopped from coming in. He whipped his head, wincing at the same time.

“W-What are you talking about, grandma?” he asked, his voice trailing.

The older lady smiled knowingly and Satoshi felt something inside him snapped. The older lady nodded her head and tenderly patted Satoshi’s cheek.

“.. go and do what you have to do, Satoshi.. you’ve been waiting years for that and now that the time has come, don’t let it slip away. You knew he was waiting for you too. Don’t make him wait too long for you again this time around..”

The next thing Satoshi knew, he was out the door the second after, his body shaking with an indescribable amount excitement he had never felt in his life.
