Amidst their busy schedules, concert rehearsals, TV shows, magazine interviews as well as their own individual activities, Nino wanted nothing else but to make sure Ohno celebrates his 31st birthday a little different than that of last year.

But Nino realized it to be a little difficult for the older man to focus himself into doing something he deemed unnecessary (birthdays are, he said, though Nino tried convincing the older man otherwise), most especially at this time when Ohno’s mind had been occupied with nothing but work, work and work that he couldn’t even find the time to really stop for a moment and simply breath.

Nino knew this for a fact and so against his better judgments, he planned out the things in his head and talked to the one person whom he knew would help him prepare the rest with utmost perfection.

“Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday… Happy Birthday, Satoshi-kun~”

More singing and greetings, people hovering over Ohno’s tiny frame as the older man did his best to smile and bow simultaneously, his cheeks blushing in a mixture of joy and embarrassment and Nino couldn’t help but admire him all over again.

That night, with the help of his other band mates, Nino managed to drag Ohno to that bar/restaurant after the older man’s last interview of the day for his movie. The look on Ohno’s face when his closest friends greeted him the moment he and Nino arrived at the party venue was enough compensation for all the hard work they’ve put into planning for the older man’s birthday celebration. Ohno had turned around and stared at him for a good few minutes, his mouth gaping open in shock and Nino just nodded his head and bit his lips to keep himself from throwing his arms around the older man and kissed him right then and there.

It was Ohno’s day and the spotlight should only be on him and him alone.

He pushed the older man forward and Ohno threw him a grateful smile before he disappeared in the crowd of hooting friends and co-workers while Nino stayed at the far corner, drinking in the sight of Ohno’s beaming personality as he shone brightly among the crowd.

“He looks so happy,” somebody muttered behind him and Nino smiled without looking back to check who it was. He didn’t need to. They’ve been living inside each other’s pockets for over a decade for him to know exactly who it was by sense. He was very good at that and it was a skill he perfected over the years without him even realizing it.

He faked a snort and rolled his eyes, bringing the champagne glass to his mouth and sipped a little. “Well he better since I had to pay a fucking lot of money just for this shit,” he grumbled his response but not without so much fondness. The other man chuckled but otherwise didn’t say anything. “ – but you don’t need to tell him about~”

“ – I know,”

Nino turned and punched the other man lightly on the shoulders. “ – just keep your mouth shut, Matsumoto. And stop looking at me like that, you’re freaking me out.”

Jun had the decency to roll his eyes at him, his mouth curved into a gentle smile.

“ – Leader is so lucky to have you, Nino…” the younger man said, without a hint of smugness and Nino tried hiding his blush by smirking elegantly back at him. “ – that is, when you’re not being a brat and a total asshole…”

Nino grinned and threw him a wink.

“ – I love you too, princess…” he smiled, bowing deeply and turned around after throwing Ohno’s back one last glance.

“ – where are you going?” he heard Jun called when he started going for the door, placing his champagne glass at the nearest counter when he passed by.

He waved without looking back. “ – just to get some fresh air. Be back in a minute…”

Lighting up a cigarette, Nino wondered briefly how he ended up caught between loving and his desperate need to keep up with everything. Nino never had any difficulties dealing with his feelings, especially his feelings about Ohno. Because since that one time he woke up with Ohno sleeping beside him almost a decade ago, he knew he was the one and that basically was it. He had never thought about anything else, not when Ohno’s always there, close for him to touch and to cuddle whenever he felt the need to.

He had loved the older man so much. So much. And that in itself was a fact that scared him more than anything else in the world. More than the thought of losing everything, including Arashi because then he realized that Ohno means more to him than everything in this world combined.

He choked out a laugh, feeling his body shake as another wave of chilly air hit him straight in the face, making him shiver. It was November afterall and he should have known not to go outside wearing only his work clothes, without even a jacket on.

Puffing the smoke upwards, Nino felt a pair of warm hands wounding themselves around his waist at the same time he felt the owner of the same hands pulled him a little closer, a little tighter, until his back hit a warm chest/

“What are you doing out here in the cold, Kazu?” asked the sleepy voice Nino would never, ever get tired of hearing even when he’s old and wrinkling. “ – got sick of the party already?” he added, his voice thick and ragged against the shell of Nino’s ear. Nino shivered again as the other man tightened his hold around Nino and nuzzled Nino’s neck affectionately.

“Just wanted to get some fresh air, old man…” Nino answered, his breathing accelerated when the other man gently nipped the exposed skin. “There are so many people. I feel like I’m being suffocated.”

A beat then Nino felt the other man sighed against his skin before he lifted his face and gently turned the younger man around without peeling his arms off of him. Nino looked a little confused when the other pressed a lingering kiss on the corners of his mouth, one hand moving up to tangle against Nino’s hair.

“Thank you,” Ohno murmured, kissing his way from the line of Nino’s jaw to his cheek then up to his eyebrows. Nino stayed unmoving, his fingers moved to grip the front of Ohno’s shirt.

“For what?”

Ohno rested his forehead against Nino, warm breath fanning the younger man’s face as he spoke again.

“For the party. I thought I told you not to~”

“It was the Emperor's fault, not mine,” Nino countered defensively, fingers still fisting against the fabric of Ohno’s shirt as Ohno gave him a sly smile. “What?”

“Aiba-chan and Sho-kun told me you’d say that,”

Damn those gossiping old women! “It’s not… it’s not like~” he paused when Ohno grinned some more and snickered awkwardly because really, this wasn’t included in his plan and –

“I love you,” Ohno muttered, his eyes honest and solemn that Nino had to literally stop himself from leaning forward and catching Ohno’s pouty lips into a deep kiss. Not now, not when his chest was about to burst with so much love for the older man he could barely contain his emotion without looking like a love sick puppy.

Nino looked away but Ohno’s fingers immediately cupped his chin, his thumb grazing light touches over his trembling bottom lip while he smiled. “Nino,”

Nino forced himself to look up, mindful of the way Ohno’s face lit up when their eyes met.

“I just want you to be happy… on your special day… its not much and I know you preferred otherwise but Satoshi~”

“I am happy,” Ohno replied with urgency, still looking straight into Nino’s eyes. “But the happiness isn’t complete because you’re not beside me…” he added and Nino choked on the emotion bubbling up to his throat.

“Wow,”

“Let’s get out of here,” Ohno breathed, biting Nino’s chin lightly. “I want to spend the remaining hours of my birthday with the one who makes me happy… even when we are just sitting beside each other, not talking, nor doing anything. I just want to spend the day with you, Kazu…”

Another pause before Nino wormed his hands around the older man’s neck, pulling Ohno’s face toward him and angled his head and Ohno’s lips was there, meeting him halfway. They kissed slowly and softly, their lips meet and part perfectly in synch as Ohno tightened his hold around him and Nino marveled at the thought of how they fit against each other as if they were made as a two separate parts of a whole. Their tongues tenderly glided together, creating a rhythm only they could hear as their mouths moved against each other, wet, wild and desperate.

Nino pulled back after a few moments, resting his forehead against the older man as he allowed their breathings to even out.

“Sure you can make speeches when you want to huh?” Nino muttered, grinning, pulling back and taking Ohno’s hand with his own.

“Only when you’re being a girl and left all the talking to me…” Ohno answered defiantly. Nino smacked him across the head as he lead the way, mouth curling up into a happy smile.

“You’re lucky I love you,” he snorted.

Ohno raised their joined hands and dropped a kiss over Nino’s knuckles.

“As I love you…”
